1997 gmc loss off power 5.7 ltr. Changed fuel pump?

would an OBD2 code reader inform me of where a fuel dilery problem is occuring. And how could you test the fuel pressure.Remember this truck ran perfedt before old pump died. And were would i find the air flow sensor is there a way to test the fuel pressure regulator. or will it scan1997 gmc loss off power 5.7 ltr. Changed fuel pump?
you may have fuel pressure but you may lack fuel volume.

i have replaced plenty of fuel pumps and came a cross a few bad ones brand new out of the box.

you may need a high volume fuel pump?1997 gmc loss off power 5.7 ltr. Changed fuel pump?
Maybe it wasn't the pump to begin with???

Buy or rent a pressure gage that goes up to 25 psi or so.

Disconnect the fuel supply line from the tank at the fuel filter inlet. (don't loose the little Oring)

Hook up a snug fitting hose from the fuel line to the gage.

Turn the key on.

Watch the gage for pressure. (2 second timer)

13-16 psi. is good.

Anything less than 8psi is too low.

If you have good fuel pressure from the tank, you have other issues.

ADDED:

Just because you can't hear the pump, doesn't mean it bad....

I have a 1991 Chevy 2500, I can't hear mine. And it's brand new. (4 months old anyway)1997 gmc loss off power 5.7 ltr. Changed fuel pump?
If you have multi-port fuel injection and you bought a TBI fuel injection pump the pressure is to low.1997 gmc loss off power 5.7 ltr. Changed fuel pump?
Please do not take this wrong.

You did change your fuel filter out I assume?

I had a 95 Chevy C1500 that would lose power if the fuel filter became clogged.

It fooled me once and it was not the fuel filter but rather plug wires arcing. Opened the hood at night and looked at engine while running and could see them arcing. I had visually inspected them the day before and saw no imperfections.

Both of these problems manifested themselves as loss of power.

I have fooled myself before by overlooking the obvious.
