my camaro 2002 turned off while i was driving and since then it wouldnt turn on then a couple days later it turns on then back off took it to a shop and they say its the fuel pump, and they say they will try to get a non name brand part to replace it

Its a camaro 2002 v6 any idea of around how much it should cost and possibly time it will take to fix ?Price for camaro fuel pump change?
If its the fuel pump you should take it to a chevy dealer, or a specialty shop that has experience dealing with the Camaro. These are easier and quicker jobs for those that have done it before. Be prepared to spend alot of money at the dealership(600+). Factory GM pumps are good and carry a warranty. Small shops may not give you a quality part, and charge you for a job they wont stand behind. Aftermarket pumps should be used only if you plan to increase HP/TQ output, or when adding superchargers, turbochargers, or nitrous ect. Be careful of what you buy in aftermarket %26quot;OEM replacement%26quot; as sometimes or most times they wont last as long. Good Luck.Price for camaro fuel pump change?
Same thing just happened to me! Looking at $900 including the tow bill. Hate to think what a GM dealer would charge! My mechanic says go with GM parts for the warranty and reliability-takes 5 hours to do the job-dropping rear end, springs, tank, etc.

i have to go with a GM part...... exhaust has to come down, and some rear sway bar parts...i'd say a good 4+ hour job. part price no clue. good luckPrice for camaro fuel pump change?
First thing you should do is take the car to your nearest auto parts store,Auto Zone,Advance Auto or whatever store you have in your area and have them run there computer on your car , considering you can drive the car there , they will do this free of charge , this will tell you if it is for shure the fuel pump. Second the after market pumps they have now are very good , and if you bring the car to a dealership you will pay at least 3 times more than at your local repair shop , it is a pretty common repair.Price for camaro fuel pump change?

the fuel pump is a sending unit as we'll as pump the unit goes for about 300.00 to 340.00 depending on where you get it and labor is about 41/2 hours any good shop will charge 67 to 74 dollars an hour good luck cam73Price for camaro fuel pump change?
Check out the search I've done on the fuel pump repl. over @ LS1tech.com. Some of the members are talkin about usin aftermarket pumps for like $98. bucks thru the likes of Summit Racing and Thunder Racing.

Personally, I had to have the fuel pump in my 91 Silverado repl. After my daugther had ran it MT on fuel and the cost was like $400. bucks.

Whatever you do, DO NOT run the fuel tank MT on these later model vehicles!!! It will cuz the fuel pump to fry(burn-up).

Good luck!Price for camaro fuel pump change?
This is a major replacement and cost are high. You will be better off having a Chevy dealer do this repair. Two reasons first the aftermarket pumps are junk that don't last as long as the factory one does.Second the dealer uses factory replacement parts that carry a great factory warrenty. And the dealer does these all the time not like some shops that do very few of them.Call the chevy dealer and get a price and ask about the warrenty. It could be life time on the pump through GM.Best of luck with your camaro.

How to change a fuel pump on a bmw?

You have likely drained the battery down too low to crank the engine over now. Draining a battery will cause it permanent damage but it should still be able to be charged back up again.

Your car will still not start even when it does crank which is a different issue. If you insist on self diagnostics and have limited tools you can easily remove a spark plug from the 2.5l engine and have someone crank and check for fuel mist coming from that cylinder. If indeed there is no fuel mist or smell of fuel it will likely be the fuel pump or pump related electronics. Not sure about your car but most BMW's have a removable plate in the trunk over the fuel pump in the gas tank. Depending on your skill level you may want to check for voltage to the pump.

As others have indicated ignition faults are no longer the domain of the shade tree mechanic. Checking fusses is about all your going to be able to do.How to change a fuel pump on a bmw?
Do not guess and throw parts into a bmw problem.

Have it diagnosed by a qualified bmw technician with the right diagnostic tools.

You have not even differentiated between a no crank and a no start problem. If it cranks but does not start, the pump might really be bad, but it is not the only the possibility. Among the possibilities is a bad fuel level sensor, no fuel in the tank, bad fuel pump relay, no ignition spark, etc. etc.How to change a fuel pump on a bmw?
if it doesnt start it could be a lot of problems not just a fuel pump i mean u have to be sure if it is actually the problem because i had the same problem and turned out to be an exhaust cam sensor so theres so many things that can make ur car not start u have to get it diagnosed or if ur sure its the fuel pump then its a diffrent storyHow to change a fuel pump on a bmw?
It is probably the fuel pump. To tell if the fuel pump failed go in the trunk and have someone try to start it. Listen if the fuel pump starts up. If you don't hear anything then it is probably the fuel pump

    1. Go to the auto parts store and purchase the new fuel pump, fuel filter, and fuel tanks straps.

    2. Use up or remove as much fuel as possible.

    3. Once you have the tank dropped, you will see the pump is locked in place with a large ring. remove and replace as needed.

    4. The tanks straps can be returned if you did not break either of the others while taking down the tank. Replace the filter for your.

I just change the fuel pump in a dodge caravan, how many fuel gallons does it need the pump to start?

you need to put at least three gallons in it if you don't you may burn the new pump out on it,if it dry pumps it doesn't take long for it to do damage to it,good luck.I just change the fuel pump in a dodge caravan, how many fuel gallons does it need the pump to start?
I would assume that it would be similar to when I ran my Caravan out of gas. It took about two gallons in the tank before it would start again. This is the conclusion after having run it dry a couple of times (o.k., several times). I know that if I put just a gallon in it would crank until I melted the starter, but on other occasions when I put 2 gallons in and cranked, it would fire.

    Good Luck!

How to change a fuel pump on a 89 chevy c1500 with a 6 cycliner?

it will sit and run for hours but when i take off it stalls and bucksHow to change a fuel pump on a 89 chevy c1500 with a 6 cycliner?
Clean the throttle-body and idle air passage. At the back of the throttle-body on the right/passenger side is a black cylinder that is about an inch in diameter, an inch long, has an electrical plug-in, and a big metal hex that unscrews out of the TB. This Is the Idle Air Control/IAC valve, that is a computer controlled choke. The air passage inside the TB gets carbon built up and restricts the air flow, causing the engine to run rich. This is a serviceable part, that can be removed, cleaned with a throttle-body cleaner that is O2 sensor safe, and reinstalled.

Use care when cleaning the pintle valve of the IAC, do not rotate when cleaning, this will cause the valve to be out of calibration and the vehicle will have to go through a relearn procedure.

I had this same problem with my 89%26quot; caprice classic.

A can of throttle-body cleaner cost about 10 bucks and it takes about an hour to clean.

Hope this helps. ChristopherHow to change a fuel pump on a 89 chevy c1500 with a 6 cycliner?
I'd change the fuel filter before doing a fuel pump. When a filter is clogged you will run poorly. When a pump is bad, it won't start. If the filter is clogged, you could burn up the pump. The filter is the quickest and easiest fix.How to change a fuel pump on a 89 chevy c1500 with a 6 cycliner?
Could be either the pump or filter, I have had both react that way. I would try the filter first, then, if it still stalls, go for the pump. How to change a fuel pump on a 89 chevy c1500 with a 6 cycliner?

How long does it take to change a fuel pump on a 1998 ford explorer?

around how many hours would a shop charge me forHow long does it take to change a fuel pump on a 1998 ford explorer?
You are looking at about 2 hours labor to replace the pump. At the dealer that is around 150.00 for labor and 395.00 for the pump. Take it in with as little fuel as possible also. It will save on an additional charge to pump out the fuel to remove the tank and replace.

Update: If you can get the pump for 100.00 then the labor will still be 2 hours. Then multiply the shop's labor rate you choose by 2 hours and you have your estimate. How long does it take to change a fuel pump on a 1998 ford explorer?
Shop will probably charge 1.5 hours.

With a lift it would take about 25 minutes, unless you are ruthless and fill the tank just before you bring it in.

you might try this question on the mechanics at askautopro.com.How long does it take to change a fuel pump on a 1998 ford explorer?

I'm asking because some Ford fuel pump concerns are not the pump motors themselves but the screening or fuel pressure regulators that are built into the pump assy .sometimes and you can't get by itself... Do yourself a favor and forget the aftermarket pump and go Ford unless you want to take a chance in what it is.....

and yeah usually labor is 1 1/2 to 2 hours.. usually we get 2 hours at $75/hour and that's to change the fuel filter also (why use a trashed up filter on a new pump.. kind of like trying to blow thru a near solidly filled straw...)How long does it take to change a fuel pump on a 1998 ford explorer?
fuel pump is in the tank. most of these places charge anywhere from 45 to 75 dollars an hour. and they have a book they go by on the time allowed for repairs. and if you carry your own part then they will stick it to you. why don't you just do it yourself. its simple just about a half days work if you never done it before. before i d pay 3 or 4 hundred for the job. id invest in a universal fuel pump and install it in between the tank and the motor. or buy the manual and do it the right way.

If you cross thred the nut, on the metal line for your fuel pump, can you re-thred the nut or must you replace it?How to change a fuel pump?
If you re-thread it half the threads will be missing and it will probably strip eventually, engulfing you and your car in a ball of fire. If that's not acceptable you need to replace the nut and whatever the nuts goes on if the threads on that were damaged too.How to change a fuel pump?
It all depends on how badly damaged the threads got. Maybe easier to just replace the fuel line.

If you have a few friends then do it as we do when working flat rate...remove the bed. There are only 6 bolts, the taillight connector and the filler tube. (some models will have one ground strap on the left hand frame) Then it is easy to reach especially if you don't have a lift. It will keep you from climbing under the truck and wearing that gas. It also keeps you from having to drain the tank. How to change a fuel pump on a 1994 Ford Ranger?
you have to drop the fuel tank out of the truck.itll come out the top of the tank there is a locking ring that secures it.good luckHow to change a fuel pump on a 1994 Ford Ranger?
The fuel pump is on the gas tank! So you have to take the gas tank off the truck before changing the pump. Be careful in doing so. Gas in the tank makes the job difficult but it's actually pretty easy once you get the tank out.

Well sorry to say the pump is in the gas tank.

You will have to drop the tank to get at it. It is not a realy hard job, but it really depends on how much gas is in the tank.

The more gas the harder the job.

Being this is not a job for a lay men, I would advise that you not try it. Playing with gas is something you have to be carfull about. How do you change the fuel pump to a 2000 dodge Neon?
i don't remember if you have to drop the tank on the 2000 or not i do believe you can do it without but you will need to get under the car and look for where all the lines come in/out of the tank i also believe it is a module type pump but you can change the pump or as a whole assy any way you need to locate then remove the lines and electrical connects then remove the white retaining ring(believe it is white i change pumps so often brands tend to blend together) unscrew the ring remove assy replace pump and filter (both) and reinstall make sure you replace the module seal ring( large o ring) and reinstall the lines etc. i would check thoroughly befor throwing parts as a plugged fuel filter can be a start as well as a fuel pump relay being badHow do you change the fuel pump to a 2000 dodge Neon?

you have guts kid.. i just done this on my 2000 blazer a few months back.. just a little warning before hand, IT IS HELLL TO DO! i thought it would be easy.. NEVER AGAIN MAN! but nah you dont need any special tools.. and it will prob. go out again.. the last one i replaced was my 2nd.. this is a very common problem for these vehicles..How can I change my fuel pump?
no, you don,t need special tools, just drop the tank and change it.How can I change my fuel pump?
No special tools. I just use a lift, a tranny jack, impact gun, set of sockets, a brass punch, a hammer, and fuel line quick disconnect tool. How can I change my fuel pump?
theres no special tools needed but you do have to be really careful especially if you have a lot of gas in the tank try and get all of it out that you can,the gas tank is really hard to handle with even two gallons of gas in it,you need a repair manual to help you with this one,you have to remove a lot of lines and also a filler neck to drop the tank off,its dangerous, this i will tell you ,one tiny spark and you can set the gas off in the tank ,so be really carerful if you attempt doing this, its a job that most professinal shops dont like to do,good luck. How can I change my fuel pump?
The tools to disconnect the fuel lines are very helpful and are inexpensive and available at most parts stores. If you haven't got a lot of experience in auto repair then you may want to pay someone or enlist a friend who is more experienced. The hardest part of doing this job without a lift is removing the tank slowly enough to disconnect the lines, filler neck, and electrical leads which are all different in length and accessibility. If you do it yourself without a lift you'll need a good floor jack (preferably a transmission jack with a wider surface) and the usual mechanic's hand tools as well as the fuel line tools. Try to not damage the rubber hose from the filler neck (which is hard to find) and do not break the plastic fuel lines. When you get is down, clean the rust and dirt away from the sending unit area before you knock the retaining ring off and again before you remove the sending unit. When you buy the pump, which is probably only available as an entire unit, make sure it comes with a new filter. Your warranty will not be valid without a new filter sock. Also, make sure you replace the inline fuel filter. Good luck. How can I change my fuel pump?
u should only need comon tools to remove the tank, but u will need a special tool to remove the fuel lines, your local parts stor should fix up with that. dont forge to get as much of the gas out before you start its much easyer. be careful. also check to see if there is a hole panel in the floor under the mat before removing the tank, some change to doing that but im not sure when

Heres a cool little trick alot of people don't know about.

Look at the very front of block, right there at the corner where fuel pump is.

You will see a bolt in a hole, then a hole with out a bolt in it right under the bolt.

Take that bolt out. (its a short one) and get you a longer 3/8%26quot; course threaded bolt, push rod up and screw that longer bolt into that hole.

That hole is right in line with the pump rod and is drilled straight through. In fact thats why GM drilled that hole fully through.

The bolt will press against rod and hold it in place for you.

Then once pump is one, just take that longer bolt out and put your short one back in.

Remember being its drilled through, you have to keep a bolt in it at all times or oil will squirt out, so don't loose your short bolt, or forget it

most generally the fuel pumps are in the gas tank and yes you have to drop the gas tank to get to it...once the tank is dropped it's usually not that hard to get to and change...just be very careful of the fuel lines and electrical plug-ins before you drop the tank completely and it really helps if you have an empty tank of gas..most electric fuel pumps are held in by a lock ring..you can carefully tap that until it unlocks and lift it right out of the gas tank. make sure you use the new strainer that comes with the pump, if you don't use the strainer that comes with the new fuel pump it can void the warranty

Did you say it won't idle? What about starting? Does it run if you stay on the gas pedal? If the fuel pump were to lose just 10% pressure, the engine would not even start. Completely dead. So if your not sure, do a simple fuel line pressure check. You don't need the engine running, just bypass the fuel pump relay. There is even a jumper factory installed for bypassing. Its a little red wire whip coming out the side of the underhood fuse/relay box.

EDIT: Look all these idiots are telling how to replace the fuel pump. I try to show you how to confirm it is actually the fuel pump that is malfuntioned, Before you waste time and money. well myself i rather pull the bed .. it is easier to install the pump and get all the lines reconnected with out leaks or having a line or wires pinched . when you drop the tank you have to lift the truck up high enough to get the tank out . also a take can be heavy if full of fuel.

to pull the bed is the15mm bolts , 1 ground bolt for the tail light harness, screws around the gas neck and 10mm for ground strap. 2 people can lift the bed off the truck ..How do i change a fuel pump in a chevy s10?
the first thing i would do is try changing the fuel filter. its cheap and inexpensive and i would try that for the cost of a fuel pump change. it might be the fuel filter is dirty. id try that first! sometimes its the simple things, and for ten bucks, its a hell of a lot easier than changing a fuel pump. and its worth a try no more than a fuel filter costs. How do i change a fuel pump in a chevy s10?

You don't have to drop your tank the easy way is to take you bed bolts out and move your bed to the side take your sending unit out and replace your full pump. I would replace your sending unit too most of the time the sending unit is the cause of your fuel pump burning out.How to change a fuel pump on a 1998 dodge ram 1500 pick up truck?

Before doing any repairs on your own vehicle invest in at least good repair manual from your local auto parts store. I personally prefer Haynes over Chilton. You can also get a shop manual from the dealer if you would like. I highly doubt that anyone on here is going to take the time to walk you through it.How to change a fuel pump on a 1998 dodge ram 1500 pick up truck?
Drop the tank, or remove the bed (your choice) to access the top of the fuel tank. There will be some sort of ring holding the unit in the tank; either a snap ring or a ring that you would turn to remove. Your replacement unit should be plug and play.

Removing the bed or dropping the tank is your choice. I dropped the tank on my '97 half ton GMC, but on my cousins S10, we removed the bed because it was small and easier than removing the tank. How to change a fuel pump on a 1998 dodge ram 1500 pick up truck?
Just about all cars that I know of have their fuel pumps located in their fuel tanks and are part of the sending unit assembly. If you have the correct tools and knowhow go to:

    http://www.alldatadiy.com

And for the price of one of those Chilton's or Haynes manuals you can get MUCH MORE model specific information to fix your car. I swear by it!How to change a fuel pump on a 1998 dodge ram 1500 pick up truck?
Boogie is correct on how to change your fuel pump. There is a ring that you unscrew on the top of your tank. Your fuel filter is also in the tank and is suppose to never need servicing (sure Dodge), anyway, make sure and either replace this or clean it when you have the pump assembly out. I did this on a '98 1500 V6, and the only problem I had was putting the fuel lines back on (tight quarters, and the return line was the hardest). If you can pull the bed, that is what I suggest, but it is possible to drop the tank (that is how I did it).

All you have to do to drop the tank is unbolt the filler neck, unbolt the two straps holding the tank, lower the tank enough to get your hands on top of it to release the two fuel lines and electrical connection, and then finish lowering the tank. Your fuel lines are hard lines and your electrical connection is very short, so don't try to drop the tank all the way until you disconnect everything. It took me about 45 minutes to drop the tank, replace the fuel pump and filter, and put everything back together.

Alternate method for fuel pump change in chevy truck?

    Hi, I have a 1990, Chevy, C15,Pickup, w/4.3 L motor,w/a 6ft bed. I need to change the sending unit,%26amp; while I'm in there, change the fuel pump as well,(milage:150K).

My Question is: I've heard that to%26quot; Avoid dropping%26quot; the tank, which has approx.150 lbs. of gas in it,(20gals)@ present, a person could simply raise the bed.

I have a floor jack. I also have a bed liner, which would be difficult to remove, due to the tie-down hardware.

Has anybody accomplished this before? If so,how?

Can the bed bolts be accessed underneath, without removing the bed liner? Thanks,in Advance! Everybody!Alternate method for fuel pump change in chevy truck?
Six to eight bolts hold the bed on. Disconnect the wiring harness at the rear of the truck, get a couple/three friends to help and lift the bed and move it back about three feet. Fuel pump and sending unit will be visible right behind the cab. Use a brass drift punch or piece of wood to remove the retaining ring and remove the wires from the unit and lift it out.

Just did this on my '96 C1500, 4.3l and a short bed, same as yours about 2 months ago, not a bad job at all. You do not have to remove the bed liner, all the bolts are visible from under the truck. I had to take the rear bumper mount bolts out of the frame to gain access to the back bolts, but the rest were easy, I think it was a 14mm socket. Also will have to remove the screws holding the fuel filler neck to the bed. Had two buddies helping and it only took me about an hour.Alternate method for fuel pump change in chevy truck?
Raising the bed would be 2X the work compared to draining the tank and lower it with the jack.Alternate method for fuel pump change in chevy truck?
Doing it this will add about 6 hours to the job plus you might have alot of electrical issues after the bed is back on.

Dropping the tank after you have removed alot of the gas is a piece of cake and alot easier....

I had a 2003 dodge ram 1500, so I'm not 100% sure how it's done on your truck, but I'm sure it's VERY similar. And yes you have to drain out the fuel first before you service it. As a safety precaution make sure you unplug the battery as well before working on anything with fuel, to avoid a potential spark....You'll probably have to undo the tank straps, and then lower it with a jack, that's how i did mine, then undo all the lines of course. How do I change the fuel pump on a 1998 dodge ram 1500?

The fuel pump is in the gas tank, but there is an easier way. You will need help moving the cargo box back, but all you have to do is unhook the light wires, and remove about 8 bolts. Pick up the box and move it back a couple of feet.

You have to cut a hole in the sheet metal large enough to have clearance to remove the fuel lines and lift it out %26amp; then plug the hole without blowing yourself up.

In the long run it's easier to just drop the tank.

is it an electric pump, in the fuel tank or on engine? How to change fuel pump?
    1. Remove pressure from fuel system. Pull fuel pump fuse and run car until it stalls out.

    2. Remove spare tire cover to gain access to black panel in trunk.

    3. Remove black access panel

    4. Disconnect wiring harness and two fuel lines. If you car still has the factory pump you are going to need to cut the clamps off. Make sure you mark the hoses; if you switch the feed hose with the return hose you will have a problem.

    5. Spray the 10mm bolts with WD-40 - Wait few minutes and then remove them.

    6. Carefully remove the sending unit; it is attached to the pump which sits down in the bottom of the tank.

    7. There are two plastic tabs that secure the fuel pump to the housing mounted to the bottom of the tank. The tabs are on the left and right sides of the pump, if you squeeze them it should release the pump and allow the entire assembly to be removed.

    8. Remove the electrical connections and cut the factory hose clamp off the old fuel pump.

    9. The fuel pump itself is help in by four rubber bumpers. Carefully pry the unit out of the plastic holder.

    10. Install the new pump into the housing and restore the electrical connections. Some fuel pumps may not have the pulsation unit on the top of the pump, do not be alarmed. Attach the main feed hose to the fuel pump and secure with a hose clamp. Try to orient the main feed home in a similar fashion as the return line. This will prevent a kink when it is reinstalled in the tank.

    11. Install the pump assembly back into the holder in the fuel tank, followed by the sending unit.

    12. Tighten 10mm nuts in an even pattern. Do not over torque.

    13. Connect fuel feed and return lines. Use new hose clamps. Connect electrical plug to fuel pump assembly.

    14. Change fuel filter. Replace hose clamps if they are rusty.

    15. Start car and check for leaks.

    16. Take car for short test drive and recheck for leaks.

    17. Oil 10mm nuts on top of fuel pump and put some engine oil on the fuel inlet tubes. This will help to prevent any further corrosion.

    18. Replace access plate and install truck trim pieces.

Does anyone know how to change a fuel pump on a 85 Buick Century pictures would be great like a manual???

I am trying to change the fuel pump on my mom's car but she does not have a manual for the car so any help would be appreciatedDoes anyone know how to change a fuel pump on a 85 Buick Century pictures would be great like a manual???
The fuel pump is located in the fuel tank. You will have to remove the tank from the car to change the pump. There are two bolts that hold the tank straps to the frame, these will have to be removed, BUT they are usually rusted quite bad. I would suggest soaking them with a good penetraiting oil for a couple of days before you even attempt to remove them.

You will need to put a floor jack of some kind under the tank to support it so you can lower it down. You will also need to remove the fill neck, and disconnect the hoses and wires to the sending unit before you lower the tank all the way.

Once the tank is on the ground you will have to remove the sending unit, there is a ring that has to turn to unlock it from the tank, you will need a special tool to turn this ring, or a brass (NON SPARKING) punch to tap it around counter clockwise to remove it.

Once the ring is off, you can remove the sending unit fom the tank, unclip the pump from the sender, replace the hose that it hooks into (usually supplied with your new pump), and replace the suction strainer/sock at the bottom (not always supplied)

Then reverse the steps to install. and check for leaks, there is a large O-Ring between the sender and the tank, make sure you install this correctly, and it doesn't shift out of place while re-installing the sending unit.

Good luck...many of the fittings holding the tubes to the sender can be quite rusty and a real pain to remove...if you tweek any of the lines you will be replacing lines OR the sending unit. (some can be expensive).Does anyone know how to change a fuel pump on a 85 Buick Century pictures would be great like a manual???

not a bad job as long as the tank is low or empty. the pump is in the fuel tank. you need a $20.00 fuel line disconect set to take apart the fuel lines. also you will need to be able to get the car up about 2-3' in order to get the tank out.

    1) disconnect battery

    2) lift vehicle

    3) loosen the filler neck and vent to tank

    4) disconect wiring

    5) 2 bolts hold the straps that hold the tank, loosen, but do not break them they alnmost never come out easy, lw or wd-40 helps alot

    6) lower tank

    7) where the fuel lines and wires are there is a round collar you remove

to get the pump and sending unit out

    8) reverse the order and try starting, it can take a few seconds for the fuel pump to prime, but is done in 30 secs or less usuallyHow do you change the fuel pump on a 98 Dodge Intrepid.?
when it comes to thing like gas.you have to be careful not to ignite it.for example a gas tank strap is so tight you may think of using heat from a torch to loosen it.that's a bad idea!!but i don't think that will be an issue.but you do need to drop the gas tank down and probably out of the car to change the fuel pump.as in its inside the gas tank .sometimes the fuel line requires special tools to remove the fuel lines from the sending unit so you can drop the tank.after that its not that bad to do.as long as you take your time and use common sense.just think safety and you will be fine.good luck.

To do this correctly you must remove the fuel tank. To remove the fuel tank you must remove the exhaust (rear section) and the rear differential must be dropped down (remove the shocks and allow to drop for enough clearance). This is a tough job to do with out a lift.

Is it hard to change the fuel pump in a 96 dodge grand caravan?

Also....anyone know how much that would run to DIY and to take it somewhere? I am trying to weigh my options. But if its in the fuel tank....and more than a couple hundred to fix, I am just selling it. Thanks all!!Is it hard to change the fuel pump in a 96 dodge grand caravan?
Yes all fuel injected engines have fuel pumps INSIDE the gas tank.

As for DYI, you should be VERY CAREFUL when working around gasoline and gas tanks.

If you decide to work on them

    (1) work away from the house or buildings

    (2) have fire extinguisher close by

    (3) have second person near by - just in case YOU catch fire

As for the cost, that depends on where you live as labor is huge part of the cost.

You need to drop the fuel tank and use a brass or wood drift with a hammer to open up the top, (don't use steel, you'll blow your self up or just cause a fire) where the fuel pump and sending unit is. Try to change the fuel pump with a near empty tank. Sloshing fuel make the tank very hard to handle

Your gonna need to remove the filler hose, an electrical connector, and maybe some hose clamps and hoses.

Tie rags around your wrists so you don't end up with fuel in your arm pits (it stings, bad, for hours, don't ask how I know, I just know). How do you change the fuel pump on a 1997 Astro van 2 wheel drive?

either you need to drop it or it's under the car and you need to unbolt it from the side of the tank.

How do i change the fuel pump in a 99 camaro?

additionally how do i remove the tank to get to the fuel pump to change it

    ????

thx in advanceHow do i change the fuel pump in a 99 camaro?
haha... You will need to remove the whole tank. You need to remove your exhaust system and then lower your rear axle assembly to access the tank enough to pull it out. I reccommend using a hoist for the job. I don't think it is possible on the ground. A shop would charge approx 400$ for installation. If you are handy with a wrench its do able. And if its not going anywhere it will give you something to do. :)How do i change the fuel pump in a 99 camaro?
The 1982-02 camaro/firebird has one of the hardest to remove fuel tanks I have ever seen.

To change the elec pump you have to remove or atleast drop tank down.

To do this you pretty much have to drop the rear axle housing. The tank is only held in place by 2 straps with a bolt in each strap plus the filler neck. To get it to come down though you have to have body jacked up and supported high on stands, then you can remove shocks, panhard rod, torque arm, wheels, etc front rear end and if car is high enough up, then you can just let the rear end down, then pull tank and you might have enough clearance to get to the pump.

Alot of people even cuts the floor above gas tank, and removes pump from the top/inside of carHow do i change the fuel pump in a 99 camaro?
its not an easy task.you have to remove the rear axle and coponents then loosen the tank straps.unplug the conectors and fuel lines and remove the tank.once the tank is out you turn the lock ring and remove the pump. How do i change the fuel pump in a 99 camaro?

  • How much should it cost to change a fuel pump on a '97 chevy blazer?

I have a 97 blazer that broke down on the side of the road I had it towed to a local garage as it was not something fixable along the highway. They told me the fuel pump needs replaced and gave me a quote of $600 is that reasonable, or are they ripping me off since my car is kind of stuck there.

add the fuel pump is in the fuel tankHow much should it cost to change a fuel pump on a %26039;97 chevy blazer?
if u call a local parts store in ur area, and ask them the %26quot;list%26quot; price of that pump, i think you'll find that the %26quot;list%26quot; price is someplace in the $320 area...now understand, %26quot;cash%26quot; price is different from %26quot;list%26quot; price, so while the pump %26quot;cash%26quot; price may only be $225, the %26quot;list%26quot; price, which is the price the shop will charge you for it will be $320 and then they will charge you labor.

i have heard these pumps are very expensive, and labor today can run as high as $90 an hour and even more...if u believe its high, and have other shops in the area, u may wanna get a second opinion on the price...shops are hungry in this economy, u may find a better rate someplace else.

could anybody tell me how to change a fuel pump on a Honda civic hatchback EF?

thanks for your help?Does anybody here know how to change a fuel pump on a Honda civic EF?
What year is it? It's probably in the gas tank and there may or may not be access from the top. Look under the car to see where the gas tank is located. Then see if there is access either in the trunk or under the rear seat. If not, you will have to drop the gas tank to access the fuel pump. Click the link below for step by step instructions.

How change a fuel pump on a renault megane 02?

i have basically been quoted 350 to change a fuel pump, could i do it myself and how?

i live in darlington if anyone can helpHow change a fuel pump on a renault megane 02?
The fuel pump is fitted in to the top of the fuel tank, if you lift up the rear seat base on the drivers side of the car you should find a round black access panel. Remove that panel and you can see the top of the pump, squeeze the coloured squares on the fuel pipes to release them, disconnect the electrical connector and then unscrew the large black plastic nut that holds the pump in to the tank. The nut will be tight and dealers use a special tool to release it, although it is possible to remove it by using a hammer and a screw driver and tapping it round. The biggest problem with this job is that some times when the nut is taken off it won't go back on due to the tank neck distorting, this usually results in replacing the fuel tank !

the present tank has a leak and i am not an auto mechanic in any way, but i do not have the money to have it done at a shop. i already have the replacement gas tank. I figured i would change the fuel pump while it was off too because i believe it is in the gas tank, but i could be wrong. Can i have a detailed explanation on how to change the gas tank and fuel pump on my 1989 chevy silverado?
If you have no clue on how to do this, DO NOT DO THIS JOB.

To replace a fuel pump, water pump, battery is one thing when someone doesn't know what they are doing. But to replace a gas tank by a person with no experience is asking for problems.

A mechanics shop in my town allowed a rookie to change a tank out at the shop. That shop blew up later that day and killed 2 people. When I worked at Lexus and they were removing a gas tank. EVERYONE in the service area had to leave while only 2 mechanics did the work.

An empty gas tank is like a bomb. The last person you want touching a bomb is a person with no experience.

No!Can i have a detailed explanation on how to change the gas tank and fuel pump on my 1989 chevy silverado?
it is really not that hard. follow the wires from your fuel pump and disconnect them. it should just be a connector. there may or may not be straps around the tank. if there are, remove them. I would recommend you get a jack so that you can hold up the tank. After that, there should only be a few bolts that hold the tank to the chassis. also open your gas tank cap where you fuel up and take off the bolts that hold the neck to the frame.. that is about itCan i have a detailed explanation on how to change the gas tank and fuel pump on my 1989 chevy silverado?
ok not a lot to say about it first might need to poeple best to have a floor jack theres straps you loosen let doen with jack remove hoses and wires dont forget filler tank hoseonce down the filter and pump in in center as a lock ring that you tap a round to line up with a notch and then it lifts out only hard part will be strap bolts and lettting it down and up the more gas the harder it will be so if you can get what you can out it will be better thus the two people and jack but heres a link might help some and if you type in how to remove fuel pump chevy silverado at yourtube might find someone who has a video stap nuts will be the worse some spary them good before starting and good luck

How hard is it to change a fuel pump assembly in a 1998 plymouth neon?
its not real bad,the worst part of it is getting the tank off,try and get all the gas out of it that you can and get someone to help you, doing it by your self is kind of hard, you have to loosen and remove all the hoses and wires, and the loosen the tank and try and get it down level, putting the pump assembly in only takes about 25 minutes to do ,but getting it back up and in place and bolted back down takes some time, the less gas it has in it the easier the tank will be to handle, just be careful gas can and will explode if a spark gets to it,so take extreme caution when doing this, good luck. How hard is it to change a fuel pump assembly in a 1998 plymouth neon?
its not just pop out the backseat and it is right thereHow hard is it to change a fuel pump assembly in a 1998 plymouth neon?
It is not so hard and never fooled with neon but principals should be the same, pump is mounted in the tank so first find the test valve on the fuel rail and relieve the pressure, jack up the rear of car and block so you don't get killed, If there is a lot of fuel in tank try to siphon all you can get out and use a good floor jack with a platform to steady the tank as you drop it down after removing two support straps that hold it in place. you will have a wire connector to unplug and the fuel line to unhook so drop it slowly because you may not have much slack in either and unhook before dropping all the way. Once this is done there are several bolts to take out, to remove the fuel pump and reverse everything to install it . good luckHow hard is it to change a fuel pump assembly in a 1998 plymouth neon?

It is not too bad, I did it in abt 1 1/2 hrs by myself. Start with the tank as empty as you can. Put the passenger side (F%26amp;R) up on jack stands, disconnect the feed %26amp; return lines and electrical connector from the tank, loosen the support straps but do not remove them fully yet, then support the tank on the passenger side with a jack. Remove the passenger side support %26amp; carefully lower the passenger end of the tank. You should be able to lower it enough to access the pump retainer ring %26amp; gently tap it loose. It will be a tight fit but you can maneuver the pump out now. Swap the pump %26amp; reverse everything, doublecheck all your fittings/connectors %26amp; go. FYI, if you are replacing the pump now %26amp; are considering engine upgrades soon, put in the 255 pump now and only do it once! (This was on my early '95 sport coupe w/ the steel tank but my wife's 98 sport coupe looked the same!)

Use a shallow socket, swivel adapter, or wobble extension, and it should clear any obstacle you may face. Some have the heat sheild for exhaust in way, but a few 7mm bolts removed and it should come out and give you clearance. How do I change a fuel pump on a 1997 grand am gt?
After the strap comes off, you will need a special tool to unhook the fuel lines. Don't pry them with a screwdriver, they will break, and they must be replaced with expensive factory parts for the car to work. I encourage people to work on their own cars, but this can be a trying operation if you don't have a fair amount of mechanical background. Also, be careful. If the tank has much fuel in it, it is often heavier than you might expect.

How do i change fuel injectors on my '95 plymouth neon?

I have a '95 Plymouth Neon SOHC 2.0 manual transmition. I've been advised to change the fuel injectors due to a starting problem. (car cranks but won't start (already changed fuel pump and filter)). I've got a hold some new injectors and i want to try them out before i send the car away to a junk yard. Any general instructions will definitely come in handy.

THX...How do i change fuel injectors on my %26039;95 plymouth neon?
you would have to have a heck of injector fault for that to be the problem. Do yourself a favor of spending the cash and goto local parts store and ask if they have a %26quot;noid%26quot; light for the injector on that car. Most places like autozone sell them for around 8 bucks.

Unplug an injector and plug that into the plug. have someone try to start the car and notice if the light flashes. If it doesnt %26quot;and I bet it doesnt%26quot; then its not the injectors.

Also, does it have spark? You might have a crank sensor or even a timing belt problem.

You can have an injector flooding a cylinder, but it shoudl at leats try to start. never have I seen all injectors dump at once. so do as I mentioned above.

Feel free to email me from my profile and let me know if you have spark and noid light, I can tell you where to go from there.

But seriously, noid light it before replacing injectors. How do i change fuel injectors on my %26039;95 plymouth neon?
Very simple. I pulled mine off about 3 years ago when I installed a new intake manifold and from what I recall, there are only 2 or 3 screws holding the fuel injector rail in place. Once you have taken those out and removed the fuel line from the rail, unclipped the electrical plugs from the injectors, and release the fuel pressure from the rail ( very important, otherwise you could be soaked in fuel ), the whole assembly ( including the injectors ) comes off. You would then remove the injectors individually from the rail.

how do i change the fuel pump on a 90 talon...do i have to drop the fuel tank or can i get to the pump from the trunk somehowHow to change a fuel pump on a 90 talon tsi awd?
There is an access hatch in the rear drivers corner of the trunk, its fairly easy to get to.

How to change fuel pump in a 94 mercury tracer?

Like most modern vehicles that have electronic fuel injection, you must remove the fuel tank. The fuel pump is located inside the fuel tank.

Before you start. You will be opening up the fuel tank and disconnecting fuel lines to do this work. Do this in a well ventilated area, best if done outside. If in a garage keep the door open. Remove any possible ignition sources. No smoking. Have a decent sized fire extinguisher on hand that is rated for flammable fuel.

The fuel tank is located beneath the rear seat. It comes out from underneath the car.

Yo must depressurize the fuel system. Remove the fuse for the fuel pump. Attempt to start the engine. If it starts allow it to run until it stalls. Disconnect the battery.

Some vehicles use a special quick release for the fuel line connections. You must use a special release tool to disconnect these fittings. Don't even try to open these without this special tool. You will only end up damaging these fittings causing more work and expense.

When you have the fuel tank removed look where the fuel lines enter the top of the tank. In this area you will find a 4 inch locking ring. Remove the locking ring with a BRASS hammer and BRASS punch. You must use brass because the last thing you want is a steel tool making a spark.

Once you remove the locking ring the entire fuel pump assembly, fuel pick up, and fuel level sender lifts out of the fuel tank. There may also be what looks like a sock around the assembly. This must be reused if there is one.

Reverse your steps to reinstall the fuel pump and fuel tank.

My instructions are very general and may not be 100% complete for your specific application. I recommend to consult a service manual for your specific car.

It depends on who the mechanic is you take it to.

If you know a friend who is a mechanic and does work on the side it will be much cheaper. I have a friend who does such work, my sisters fuel pump went out on her dodge caravan. If i recall right the pump was like $150 and he charged like $75 or maybe $100 to put it on. And yes, i do believe when you buy a fuel pump it comes with a filter but that might depend where you buy it from and what type it is.

What's the best way to change a fuel pump on a 99 Yukon?

I have a 99 Yukon that the fuel pump is about to give up.. Im fixing to change it.. I have an idea how to but if there is any tips, hints, or secrets someone can give me please do.. ThanksWhat%26039;s the best way to change a fuel pump on a 99 Yukon?
The only fuel pump is in the tank...

First, drain the tank. Easiest is to siphon into some gas cans and pour it in to your lawn mower and other vehicles. This wont get the tank empty, but the less it weighs the easier it is to handle.

Get you a floor jack ready, it will help. Loosen the front strap as much as you can, then remove the rear strap. Use the floor jack to help hold the rear of the tank to keep from binding and pulling on the hoses. You can reach up on the tank from the passenger side and access the plug and the pressurized and return fuel line. I cannot remember the size wrench that you need to remove the fuel lines. Watch yourself closely when you go to remove the fuel line fittings, They can be sticky, and you can twist the metal line from the sending unit (I tore up mine but luckily it was the return line so I was able to use a hose clamp over the pipe that I cut and cleaned up, if you mess up the pressurized side you will need a new sending unit because the fuel pressure is 60psi, no hose clamp gonna work on that).

Once you get all that mess loose, go ahead and finish removing the front strap and remove the fuel tank from under the vehicle. Take a wire brush and scrub the area around the sending unit to bust free any dirt and gunk build-up. Then blow away with some compressed air. Take a flathead screwdriver and remove the keeper ring that holds the sending unit in place (righty tighty lefty loosy). Put the flathead against one of the vertical tabs and smack the butt of the screwdriver with a hammer or something heavy.

When you remove the sending unit, disconnect the fuel pump, and replace with the new one. Your pump should also come with a new screen that connects to the bottom of the sending unit. When you look in your tank, you can see the baffels and some sand on the bottom is to be expected. Tilt the tank to the sides and you can remove some of the crap on the bottom.

After you get the new pump mounted to the sending unit, you are ready to replace. Getting it back together is just opposite of removal, place sending unit in tank (don't forget the rubber o-ring) and tighten the keeper ring. Muscle the tank back under the Yukon, and hang the front tank strap. Connect your fuel lines, and electrical connection. Then hand your rear tank strap, then tighten them. Pour a few gallons of fuel in the tank and you are ready to fire.What%26039;s the best way to change a fuel pump on a 99 Yukon?
Some vehicles have two fuel pumps... One in the tank and the other is located along the frame. Naturally the one that has to go is the one that is located inside of the gas tank. As far as changing it well there really aren't any tips hints or secrets. You just have to dig in with both hands. The only thing that may help is if your gas tank is almost empty... This will aid in your removing of the tank when the time comes because you won't have all the extra weight to deal with as in a full or partly full tank. So drain the tank if at all possible. Otherwise it is pretty general as to removing the tank. Start by unbolting the tank straps and removing the hose that goes from the tank up to where the hose attaches to the body. Undo any wires that will need to be undone and undo the gas line at the tank or where ever the best spot will be to reach it. Then the tank should be ready for removing. Now the fuel pump is inside of the tank... To remove it there is usually some kind of ring that must be unscrewed to gain access to the pump. Once you have the ring off the pump should lift out as a assembly. When it comes to replacment everything goes back together just the oppsite. You'll probably have to get new hardware for the gas lines cause they aren't made to reuse anymore. Good luck and hope this helps you some.

Drain as much fuel as you can, probably syphon thru the filler neck. The tank has to be removed to access the pump. Usually it takes me 2.5 hours to do one. Be sure to replace both of the filters too. One on the pump and the other between the tank and the engine. How do u change the fuel pump on a 96 Honda Passport? yes you have to drop the gas tank and the fuel pump will be inside it along with the level feeler for the fuel guage....its not that hard of a job....but extremely irritating....take it to a shop...trust me its worth it

I personally think that unless you're a professional mechanic, this is one job you shouldn't do on your own... this is a little bigger than changing the oil, ya know? And I'm pretty sure you couldn't even do it on your own anyway, because Dodge (for whatever reason... to annoy owners?) puts the fuel pumps inside the gas tank.

BUT, if you're really, really determined to DIY, then buy a good book. Anyone can put whatever garbage they want online.Change Fuel Pump Dodge Ram.?
This site has very good information on just about every car out there but it will cost you about $10 per car for about a week of access. Just print everything relevant to what you need to do and might need in the future.

Go to almost any auto parts store and purchase a %26quot;Haynes repair manual %26quot; for that particular vehicle. They give pretty good step by step instructions on most repairs for the home mechanic.

The fuel pump is located in the gas tank, on the top.

These replacements are not that hard once you gain access to the tank, which in itself can be frustrating.Change Fuel Pump Dodge Ram.?

Wiring plug has a lock-type clip that has to be gently pryed up -- plug (which is a weatherproof unit and can be a bear to move) can then be pulled out. If you are getting nowhere, try gently pulling it with a pair of plyers while you hold the lock tab open. Can ne1 tell me how to change fuel pump on 92 chevy lumina?
The fuel pump is in the gas tank and the only way you can access the pump is by dropping the gas tank. This a fair amount of work so make sure the pump is indeed defective. Can ne1 tell me how to change fuel pump on 92 chevy lumina?
John R is most likely right. Most modern, fuel injected cars have the fuel pump inside the gas tank. Even five gallons of gas weighs quite a bit.

Removing the gas tank is DANGEROUS.

It doesn't sound like you have a repair manual. Your local library should have one. Call them up and ask. You can look at it there but you will not be allowed to take the manual home.

How to change the fuel pump in a 1992 firebird?

we're thinking the fuel pump went out, and we dont know how to change it or the cost. How to change the fuel pump in a 1992 firebird?
drop the fuel tank. suck the gas out somehow, or you can hit the tank with a hammer....or something to send a good vibration through it...this will free the pump for a few more cranks. My fuel pump went out in my 92 gmc, I used a tow hook to beat on the tank, it fired everytime...just listen for the pump to kick on when the key is in the on position. hope this helps. How to change the fuel pump in a 1992 firebird?
Can cost over 100 depending on the pump. If you have my luck, the tank will be FULL. Siphon out the fuel before you drop the tank or you will have real problems when it drops. Get as much fuel out as possible. You may also need a fuel line release kit. Usually small plastic tools that you slip into the fitting and pop off the connection. Can find those at any good auto parts store. Usually a bit of a pain but be patient and you will get them off. Also the fuel pump is usually held in by a cam lock ring. Easy to remove and replace. Just don't overdo it when you put it back together.

1986 Mercedes 190E? What else could cause staring problems? How difficult to change fuel pump for this car?

This car is selling for cheap but I cannot afford to spend more than $500 to fix it!How much should it cost to get a new fuel pump installed in a?
Are you kidding me? Fuel pump takes 1 hour to replace, and the part would run about $150.

Mercedes is easy to work on, but mechanics would charge you arm %26amp; leg for repair. Car maybe cheap, but if you cannot replace simple thing like fuel pump on your own, you are asking for trouble with this car. Mercedes require more maintenance than average Honda, and cost would be 3 times more. So if you cannot do the work yourself, you should stay away from luxury sedans. How much should it cost to get a new fuel pump installed in a?
Don't change the pump unless it's bad.You can check fuel pump pressure. As far as ' what else ? ' depends on the car's maintenance history. How much should it cost to get a new fuel pump installed in a?
    %26quot;This car is selling for cheap but I cannot afford to spend more than $500 to fix it!%26quot;

If you have $500 on hand. I suggest taking it to a local shop, and let them look at it. They can find the problem, and if you wont fix it. It should not cost more then $500. Starting problems or most of the time minor fixes. When i say local shop i dont mean dealership. They or much much higher then a local small shop.

P.S: go to a local shop, and tell them your problem. Most of the time they will tell you what they think it is. Then you would know, and can ask how much to fix it. Make sure you ask the total of the price. That way you have labor etc all added up.

How do you change the fuel pump on a Chevy 235 6 cylinder?

I have an cool old 57 Chevy with a straight 6 235. It needs a fuel pump and I thought this was an easy replacement. However, I talked with a couple of guys that said something about a rod that needs to be held in place during the change process...but that it may not be like that on my engine? How do I know if there is a rod, and is there a good way to go about this change? How do you change the fuel pump on a Chevy 235 6 cylinder?
The way I remember, the 6 cylinder engines drove the pump directly off of camshaft.

The v-8's had a shaft because it was so far to the camshaft. It's usually the stuff that happened yesterday that I forget.......How do you change the fuel pump on a Chevy 235 6 cylinder?
The rod will be there, as it drives the fuel pump. Take off the fuel lines and undo the 2 bolts that hold the pump to the block. After you clean up the gasket surface and get ready to put the new pump on, the rod will probably have fallen down. It's a slippery thing to push up and you have to kind of slip the pump in between it to reinstall. It.s not hard just frustrating sometimes. Good luckHow do you change the fuel pump on a Chevy 235 6 cylinder?

i think the old canadian mechanic hit the nail on the head.if the fuel pump is mounted to the motor then there is a rod to drive it for sure.no big deal,id rather change 10 of your fuel pumps rather than change 1 that is inside the gas tank. How do you change the fuel pump on a Chevy 235 6 cylinder?
old guy 64 is right about everything but I want to add that what I do is put a glob of axle grease on your finger and push that rod upward and put that glob of grease on the end of that rod and it will hold it up out of the way long enough for you get the new pump in place before it falls back down. How do you change the fuel pump on a Chevy 235 6 cylinder?
The rod is very slippery, after removing old pump and cleaning mating surface and putting a new gasket in place use a thin pair of needle nose pliers and grab the the rod and move it up. Then take the new fuel pump and put the lever that goes into the hole under the rod. Remove pliers and line up the bolt holes and tighten it up.

difficult.it is inside the fuel tank. How do you change a fuel pump on a 1990 corsica?
The fuel pump is inside the fuel tank. You will need to disconnect the filler and vent lines, plus the fuel lines and the electric lines. Drain or siphon as much fuel as possible from the tank. Unfasten the tank retaining straps and leave the tank down. May have to twist and turn to clear the exhaust. There is a lock ring that holds the tank unit in place that must be removed. Then you can remove the unit and swap in the new pump. I would definitely get a new pump. It is a lot of work to do this twice when the used pump you bought doesn't work or doesn't last. How do you change a fuel pump on a 1990 corsica?
You don't buy a used fuel pump. You can buy an aftermarket, but on a part that so much of your life depends on, this is an item I would fork over the extra few bucks and get from a dealer. Get the whole assembly. It runs about $384.00 and comes with the sender, and a new seal for the gas tank. To change the fuel pump, you raise the rear end of the car high enough that the tank can be dropped and slid out from under it. Loosen the two hose clamps from the hoses on the tank filler neck. You will see two metal straps that hold the tank in place. You have to take the bolt out of the end of each strap. This will let the tank fall so watch your head. You also may want to be careful not to spill fuel when you lower the tank. The tank has to be worked down slowly, so you don't rip the wires off the connector where they plug onto the fuel pump. When you can access the plug, unplug it from the pump on top of the tank. You will also have to disconnect the fuelk lines from the top of the unit as well. Work the tank down, while working the filler neck hoses off the filler neck, leaving those hoses attached to the tank. When you have the tank on the ground, you will see the round clip and the electrical connection where the pump comes out. Take a screw driver and a hammer, and gently tap the tabs on the retainer clip, counterclockwise. The clip will pop free after a few taps. If it is excessively rusty, it may take more than a gentle tap, but try not to break off the tabs. You should be able to lift the pump out of the tank, but you may have to gently pull it, so the strainer doesn't fall off into the tank. Installation is the reverse of removal. This is also a good time to change the fuel filter, and check your other maintenance needs. Good luck. This job isn't too bad really.
