Don R....this is the procedure for a Ford Escort pump/sender replacement - long before any import copied the idea.

I often wonder why this simple solution never caught on with other vehicles. I guess the engineers don't have to deal with old, rusted and corroded fuel tank straps, off road plates and seized up fuel line connectors.HOW TO CHANGE A FUEL PUMP SENDING UNIT, IN GAS TANK?
For an '86 Corolla, you remove the back seat, take the screws out of the access panel on the gas tank and pull the unit out of the tank, unplug it and put a good on in its place. Don't forget to put the seat back in. For a Ford, you get out your wallet and let them start emptying the money at a service station. Cry if you want. All depends on the Year, Model, and Make of the vehicle. Some are easy, some are

very hard. Hopefully you know for sure it's the sender because even a bad ground wire

can cause a misreading .
