Fuel pump making a wooing sound.?

I think my fuel pump doesnt know how to turn off. When I turn the key for power, it starts making a wooing sound. When I ignite the car, it stays on. The mechanic said that the fuel pump doesnt turn off. Does that mean I have to change the whole fuel pump or can it be something else.

I am driving a 2002 Audi a4 Quattro.Fuel pump making a wooing sound.?
Hi

If your car is running then the pump needs to run otherwise you would not get fuel and as your vehicle is fuel injected unused fuel will return to the tank,if it still runs when you shut the ignition off then the fuel pump relay is faulty, and another reason for your pump being noisy is the fuel filter may need changingFuel pump making a wooing sound.?
it is an electric fuel pump and as long as the power switch is on the pump will run until the max pressure is attained. the pump sounds as if it is getting ready to go KaputFuel pump making a wooing sound.?
are you smarter than the mechanic? most fuel pumps run when igninion switch is on [even not running] and some/many run all the time...unless you know something is wrong dont mess with it.Fuel pump making a wooing sound.?

you should replace the entire unit which is the fuel pump, the screen ( sometimes called a sock ) the sending unit for the fuel gauge is attached to the same unit also, ) when you hear that noise, that means it will be dead soon and its better to replace it at home /your city,Fuel pump making a wooing sound.?
